The hardware system of the computerized quilting machine comprises a main control unit, a motion control unit, drive and execution units, and other hardware components. The main control unit utilizes an industrial PC as its core to coordinate the motion control card and the variable frequency drive (VFD), ensuring the long-term, stable operation of the entire system. The motion control unit is based on a PC-bus multi-axis motion control card, featuring functions such as pulse output, pulse counting, and digital input/output; it controls motor speed by varying the pulse output frequency and motor position by adjusting the number of pulses issued. The drive and execution units consist of stepper motors, servo motors, and VFDs, with servo motors employed for high-precision, high-speed intermittent feeding. Other hardware components include the chassis, backplane, and power supply.

 

The software system encompasses both the operating system and application software. While early systems relied on DOS, modern systems are predominantly based on the Windows platform. The application software integrates CAD and CAM technologies and is capable of outputting Galil motion control commands. It supports various quilting control modes-such as continuous and intermittent operation-and provides functions including pattern compensation, broken-thread detection, and automatic homing and repair.
